What can I do on my own, to achieve optimal treatment results?
You should thoroughly follow all the recommendations given at GVCC and stay hopeful.
What should I do after receiving treatment at the clinic? How to continue the therapy at home?
On discharge from the GVCC you will receive a treatment plan for the next 3 months that you can continue at home. Some patients perform injections by themselves, other prefer it to be done by a nurse.
What types of cancer do you treat?
Rigvir is officially licensed for the treatment of melanoma. All other types of tumors are subjects of off-label-use that is officially accepted by FDA and EMA.
Chemo therapy and virotherapy – how to combine them?
As Rigvir is very well tolerated its addition to chemotherapy will do not worsen patient’s wellbeing. It also depends on the type and schedule of chemotherapy.
Is it possible to combine virotherapy with other therapies?
Rigvir could be safely combined with other treatment options, but we do not recommend Rigvir simultaneously with other therapies. Usually we start treatment with Rigvir 2-3 weeks after surgery or radiation. We also suggest Rigvir at least one-week prior chemotherapy injection if it is possible. Rigvir could be safely used with hormone treatment.
What else should be done to maximize efficiency of virotherapy?
Unfortunately, we do not have proper markers to evaluate patient’s individual response. It may depend on many factors. Therefore, we check blood analyses and immunological status to exclude situations with marked immune suppression or hyperactivation. We also check for the extent of the disease as our experience shows that efficacy of Rigvir depends on tumor load.
How long does virotherapy treatment last?
Usually the full course of treatment lasts between two to three years. The most intensive injection schedule is during the first 12 months. Thereafter to maintain the immune “memory” the treatment is provided less frequently.

Why is cancer so hard to treat?
The difficulty in treating cancer is that it’s not a single disease, but rather a group of diseases. In total there are more than 100 different types of cancers. Cancers are also caused by different things, so no one strategy can prevent them. Likewise, different cancers respond to different treatments, so no one treatment can cure them all. Treating cancer is further complicated due to the lifestyle and attitude of patients, the different physiology of people and the rate their bodies will metabolise drugs, the blood supply to the tumour affecting the drug getting into the tumour, the tumour physiology and the fact that the tumour can continue to change.
